Orions Belt

50×50
Acrylic on linen
2012
If you are looking for the constellation Orion in the winter sky, look for three diagonally placed stars. This painting is made with a special technique. When I told an American friend how I worked, he suggested some silicon that was removable by just tearing it off. When he returned to US he sent me some which I tried. I put the silicone-lines on the canvas, then the colours. I couple of days later I tore the silicone off and a nice patter of canals appeared in the paint. Those I filled with the sharp blue. This silicone stuff is not sold in UK, and it should never be sent by plane as my late friend Doug did. But I would have loved to have had more of it!
